DSO Celebrates its Cincuenta Aniversario

Jefferson Dental Care, a dental support organization, marks a half-century of business in Texas, with a rapidly expanding network of 58 dental offices in Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. The DSO recently interchanged ownership in April from LA-based private equity firm Black Canyon Capital to Brentwood Associates [read that story HERE.] Jefferson serves more than 200,000 patients annually with a uniquely pricing schedule, coupled with an in-house discount plan and price match promise, all which reduce the financial barriers that prevent many families from seeking care.

When Jefferson Dental Care opened in 1967, it took an unprecedented focus on Hispanic and traditionally underserved communities through a value proposition to provide high-quality, culturally-relevant, affordable dental care in a patient-centric environment. This value proposition was and still is unique for an ever-evolving multicultural demographic.

Jefferson Dental Care is restating its half-a-century of investment in oral health through the development of educational and motivational programs that empower and inspire the underserved across Texas:

  • In March, the provider launched a scholarship program to afford young scholars the opportunity to enroll in the National Hispanic Institute to serve the future leadership needs of the global Hispanic community.
  • Continuing its five-decade long commitment to the Latino community, on May 24th Jefferson launched #EstamosContigo, in partnership with Telemundo, to empower and inform families through a town hall streamed via Facebook Live featuring a panel of civil rights activists and celebrity thought-leaders to discuss immigration laws; and an online community on Estamos Contigo , a site which connects Latinos to resources, a curated collection of stories from Latino influencers, and reengages the Spanish-speaking population that is often overlooked due to barriers in language and access.
  • Furthermore, the Jefferson Cares Community Wellness Program annually reaches thousands of families at more than 500 events, more than 150 schools and non-profits, and provides upwards of tens of thousands of free dental kits to individuals, children, families and nonprofits.

The Jefferson Dental family in Houston has recently endured the most catastrophic flood in U.S. history as a result of Hurricane Harvey. A fund has been started, Jefferson Helps Fund, to raise funds for team members who have been affected by the floods.  Jefferson will be matching the first $30,000 of donations. At the time of publication $18,530 of a $50,000 goal had been raised. Click here to donate.

“We take special pride to ensure our teams deliver the comprehensive dental care, individualized attention and multilingual dental education that our patients deserve,” says Dr. Townsend, Regional Dental Director.

“We are the difference and change makers in the community. That was our promise 50 years ago, and that is our promise moving into the next 50. We will continue to impact our patients through the high-quality, affordable care that they have grown to expect from Jefferson, and we uphold our position as a legacy-brand for tens of thousands of households across Texas,” says Christopher Strong, CEO of Jefferson Dental.
