Children & Teen Dental Group Announces Name Change to Oak Dental Partners
Children & Teen Dental Group (“C&TDG”), founded in 2015 by CEO Lee Provow, announced that it has changed its name to Oak Dental Partners. The company is a DSO that has grown to 25 affiliated pediatric dental and orthodontic offices across Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Pennsylvania over the last six years. The new name reflects the organization’s rapid growth trajectory and decision to expand into adult and family dentistry. Though the rebrand is changing the company name at the DSO-level to Oak Dental Partners, Children & Teen Dental Group will forever live on as a standalone division of the company solely focused on pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. In March of 2021, C&TDG changed ownership and installed an exceptional Board of Advisors, including the former CEO of one of the largest DSO’s in the country, the current CEO of a major dental software firm, and the former Head of HR of a Fortune 100 company. Post-transaction, Oak Dental Partners has begun a hyper-growth phase and has added multiple locations in Florida and Alabama and is currently under contract to add multiple locations in the Southwest.
Tend Opens First Studio In Washington, DC
Tend opened its first studio in Washington DC recently, establishing a regional presence outside of New York City for the first time and introducing a new market to its innovative approach to oral health. Located at 600 Pennsylvania Ave SE, Tend Capitol Hill will be followed by five additional studio openings in the Navy Yard, Downtown, 14th and U, Metro Center and Ballston neighborhoods, beginning this month and into the fall. Tend launched in October 2019 with a completely reimagined, hospitality-driven approach to oral healthcare that features personalized visits, seamless online booking and price transparency. Since then, the company has opened seven locations across New York City with plans to open 20 total locations this year. Over the next year, as Tend expands across the country.
Eagle Dental Management Launches Dental Specialty Practice Partnership Initiative Across the Southwest Region
EDM is actively investing in specialty dental practices and groups looking to evolve their operations to meet the modern demands of running a practice today. To support its specialty practice partnership program, EDM has secured financial backing from a private investment firm based in Miami. With global holdings in healthcare, the group works with strong management teams with a focus on accelerating growth by removing capital constraints. EDM was identified as the ideal partner to invest in as the firm sought an entry into the North American DSO market. MB2 Dental, Dental Partnership Organization, Enters Alabama
MB2 Dental, the Dental Partnership Organization, based out of Dallas, Texas, has expanded its territory into Alabama. MB2 Dental partnered with Dr. Meghan Darby, owner of Flint River Dental in Huntsville, Alabama. According to the 2020 Census, Huntsville is the largest city in Alabama, with a population of 215,006. This brings MB2’s acquisition total in 2021 to 59 new partnerships. MB2 Dental, founded and led by CEO and dentist Chris Steven Villanueva, is a co-op model that grows through acquisitions and de novos, which gives dentists the ability to leverage the company’s scale and infrastructure to further increase their equity values while remaining in control of their practice as clinicians, business owners and entrepreneurs. Rather than the traditional “Dental Support Organization” or “DSO,” MB2 Dental identifies as a “Dental Partnership Organization” or “DPO,” a concept the company created and released in 2017.

dentalcorp, Canada’s leading network of dental practices, welcomed 20 practices to its network in the second quarter of 2021. dentalcorp is Canada’s largest and fastest growing network of dental practices. The DSO has had several recent impressive accomplishments including their new listing (TSX: DNTL) on the Toronto Stock Exchange and becoming the largest healthcare IPO in Canadian history and the largest IPO on the TSX so far this year.
Deca Dental Group Announces Strategic Investment From Blackstone Tactical Opportunities
DECA Dental Group announced a strategic investment from funds managed by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities (NYSE: BX; “Blackstone”). This partnership will help fuel DECA’s continued expansion, giving more dentists a platform to provide high quality, patient-centric, and convenient care to communities across the country. Founded in Dallas in 2008, DECA has nearly 100 affiliated dental practices with a network of offices in Texas, Florida and Washington. Dr. Sulman Ahmed, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of DECA Dental Group, will continue to run the company and chair the Board of Directors.
DCA welcomes Greater Maryland Oral Surgery & Dental Implants
Dental Care Alliance (DCA) announces the addition of Greater Maryland Oral Surgery and Dental Implants to its growing family of allied practices. Originally founded in 1973, Greater Maryland Oral Surgery and Dental Implants delivers oral surgery services through three locations, in Gaithersburg, Silver Springs and Frederick, MD. The addition of Greater Maryland Oral Surgery and Dental Implants brings DCA’s footprint in Maryland to 21 allied practices. This marks DCA’s fifth affiliation in 2021 so far, and aggressive growth is expected in the remainder of the year.
Smile One Services expands DSO footprint into Central Michigan
Michigan’s first multi-specialty DSO has just announced the acquisition of John Downey, DDS Family Practice in Ithaca, Michigan. The practice will be renamed Smile Ithaca and become part of Smile Dental Partners’ West Michigan dental group that provides multi-specialty dental care at six locations along the Lake Michigan shoreline and Grand Rapids.
Today’s Dental Network adds leading Pediatric Practice to it’s Partnership Network
Today’s Dental Network, LLC, a multi-specialty dental practice network and support organization to dental providers in the Southwest Florida region, has officially formed a partnership with Si McAninch, DDS, PA, a leading pediatric dentistry practice in Sarasota, Florida. The addition of Dr. McAninch’ s practice, TDN’s first partner network expansion since forming in July 2021, brings pediatric dentistry to its portfolio of specialty services and further enhances TDN’s ability to deliver an “infant-to-senior” continuum-of-care service offering through a single patient experience.
Thurston Group Announces Formation of the Newest Generation of DSO, Gen4 Dental Partners
Thurston Group, a private equity firm focused on investments in healthcare services companies, has announced that it has formed a new DSO, Gen4 Dental Partners. Thurston is partnering with Gen4 Dental Partners and its management team, led by CEO Lamonte Jensen and CCO Dr. Mitch Ellingson. The initial Gen4 platform is a combination of five group practices in Arizona and Utah consisting of 15 locations across the Southwest.
Smile Doctors Affiliates with Nine New Practices in Q2 2021, Including First in Maryland
Smile Doctors, the largest ortho-focused dental support organization (OSO) in the U.S., announced the affiliation with nine practice groups in seven states during the second quarter of 2021. The addition of a practice in Maryland represents the organization’s first move into the Old Line State, bringing the total number of states served to 23 and total locations to 258. Since January of this year, Smile Doctors has affiliated with a total of 36 locations and is ahead of its 2020 pace. The organization is also on track to surpass its 2020 total of 18 affiliated practices, which expanded the Smile Doctors’ footprint with 48 new locations and added five new states to its national presence.
Affordable Care Adds Network of Seven Tooth Replacement Practices
An entity of seven dental practices has affiliated with Affordable Care, a retail healthcare company exclusively focused on tooth replacement solutions. The seven dental practices provide tooth replacement services, including extractions, dentures and dental implants, to patients in New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Curaeos to become part of Colosseum Dental Group
Jacobs Holding, through Colosseum Dental Group, has reached an agreement with EQT and other minority stakeholders to acquire Curaeos, a leading European dental services provider with operations in the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Denmark, and Belgium. With this acquisition, Jacobs Holding further strengthens its leading global dental services platform consisting of the pan-European Colosseum Dental Group and the North American Dental Group. With Curaeos, Jacobs Holding’s global dental services platform will operate close to 800 clinics with more than 13,000 professionals and generate over EUR 1.5 billion in annual revenue. Curaeos is an established and vertically integrated European dental services organisation headquartered in Oosterhout, the Netherlands. It provides the full range of high-quality general and specialist dental care under several renowned brands such as Curaeos, DentConnect and DentalCoop. Curaeos operates 186 clinics – 129 clinics in the Netherlands, 24 clinics in Italy, 15 clinics in Germany, 11 clinics in Denmark and 7 clinics in Belgium – as well as 54 dental labs. Curaeos will become part of Colosseum Dental Group and broaden the Group’s footprint to the Netherlands and Belgium while expanding its leadership positions in Denmark, Italy and Germany.
Dental365 Opens Third Office in Rockland County, NY
Dental365’s has announced its latest partnership with B & D Dental Excellence, located in West Nyack, NY. The office is now the third in Rockland County to be joining Dental365, and is just 4 miles from Dental365’s existing New City location. U.S. Oral Surgery Management (USOSM) – a specialty management services company that exclusively serves oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Headquartered in Irving, Texas, USOSM now has partner practices spanning 15 states: Texas, Colorado, Georgia, Tennessee, Minnesota, Alabama, Oklahoma, Louisiana, South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Arizona and California. Heartland Dental on Track to Deliver Accelerated Growth in 2021
Heartland Dental, the nation’s largest dental support organization, today announced it has added more than 348 practices to its network since the beginning of the year, further solidifying its position as the DSO industry leader. The company is now affiliated with more than 2,300 doctors in 1,400 locations across 38 states. With expanded affiliations and the establishment of new supported offices, the company will now support the broadest range of dental care practices in its 24-year history and is on pace to deliver 40 percent growth of affiliated practices for calendar year 2021. Heartland Dental has collaborated in opening over 30 de novo practices to date and expects to open a record number of ~67 de novo practices in 2021, compared to an average of 50 opened each year from 2018 through 2020. North American Dental Group Partners with Bella Dental
Founded by Dr. Alex Shor, the practice offers general and cosmetic dentistry in three New Jersey dental offices located in Brick, Holmdel, and Oakhurst. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, NADG was co-founded in 2008 by Ken Cooper and Dr. Andrew Matta. Ken Cooper of NADG was named one of the nation’s highest rated CEOs during the pandemic. Sage Dental Acquires Vero Beach Dental Office
Sage Dental announced the acquisition of Contemporary Care Dentistry in Vero Beach, Florida. With the new location, Sage Dental will serve more than 250,000 patients at nearly 70 locations across Florida and Georgia. Sage Dental Group of Florida, PLLC and Sage Dental Group of Georgia, PLLC have provided dental care to over 1 million patients through its broad practice network.
Australian Pacific Smiles Group Limited Publishes Full Year Results to 30 June 2021
The 2021 financial year delivered strong underlying EBITADA growth of 40.8% flowing from top line patient fee growth of 29.3%, despite restrictions relation to COVID-19 begin imposed on some centres. In FY 2021, Pacific Smiles delivered nearly 1 million patient appointments with a patient net promoter score of greater than 80. They opened 15 new dental centres. Revenue for the period was $153.2 million, up 27% on the prior period.
Western Dental Opens a New Office in the San Francisco Bay Area
The DSO announced the opening of a new Western Dental & Orthodontics office in the San Francisco Bay Area City of Brentwood. Brentwood is one of the fastest-growing cities in California. Dr. Himesh Kana and Amish Patel have just opened a new Dental Depot location in Lewisville, TX. Dr. Shakir Feroz and Dr. Rosa Nguyen, will be the providers for Lewisville, offering full-service general dentistry and orthodontics.
