Dentalcorp has entered the U.S. market through the acquisition of Northstar Dental Partners, marking the Canadian dental support organization’s first expansion south of the border and advancing its North American growth strategy. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, Northstar, formerly known as Tomalty Dental Care, was founded in 2005 by Dr. Jordan Tomalty. They group began in 2022 with eight offices concentrated in South Florida, and supports 21 dental practices across South Florida, the Treasure Coast, Southwest Florida and Central Florida. The group was a Group Dentistry Now Emerging Group to Watch winner in 2023.
NDP was a privately owned, bank-funded company that had grown mostly by acquisitions as well as de novo practices.
The acquisition increases Dentalcorp’s network to more than 650 supported practices across North America, reinforcing its position as one of the continent’s largest dental support organizations.
The transaction represents a significant strategic milestone for Dentalcorp, which has built its business through partnerships with independent dental practices and practice groups. By establishing a foothold in Florida, the company gains entry into one of the nation’s fastest-growing healthcare markets while creating a platform for further U.S. expansion.
“Fifteen years ago, we set out to build a fundamentally different kind of dental organization, one that puts world-class support behind the teams who deliver care, and today that vision extends across North America,” said Graham Rosenberg, founder and chief executive officer of Dentalcorp. “Northstar is an exceptional company, and Dr. Jordan Tomalty is exactly the caliber of partner we look for as we expand across the United States.”
Founded and led by Dr. Jordan Tomalty, Northstar has grown into one of Florida’s larger dentist-led organizations by supporting practices while allowing clinicians to maintain independent clinical judgment and focus on patient care. Tomalty will retain an ownership stake in the business and continue to play a leadership role in driving Northstar’s future growth.
Dentalcorp’s operating model centers on providing administrative, operational and technology support to affiliated dental practices, enabling dentists to focus on clinical services while benefiting from shared resources, centralized business functions and expanded purchasing scale.
The acquisition aligns with the company’s broader expansion strategy as it seeks to partner with established regional dental groups that share its approach to clinical quality and operational excellence.
“Northstar stood out on every measure that matters: quality of care, caliber of talent and a culture of excellence,” said Nate Tchaplia, president of Dentalcorp. He added that the company continues to see a strong pipeline of partnership opportunities as it expands its presence across North America.
For Northstar, the transaction provides access to additional capital, operational infrastructure and technology resources while preserving the organization’s leadership continuity.
“Northstar was built on a simple idea: dentists deserve a support partner who lets them put their patients first and best utilize their skills and independent clinical judgment,” said Dr. Tomalty. “In Dentalcorp, we found a team that lives those same values and brings the scale, resources and support capabilities to take what we’ve built even further.”
Dentalcorp currently supports a network that serves nearly six million patient visits annually, making it one of the largest dental support organizations in North America. The addition of Northstar expands that platform into the U.S. market, where the fragmented dental practice landscape presents continued acquisition opportunities for consolidators.
The transaction reflects ongoing consolidation within the dental services industry as support organizations pursue regional and cross-border expansion to increase scale, strengthen operational efficiencies and broaden access to technology-enabled practice management. With its first U.S. acquisition completed, Dentalcorp has established a strategic entry point for continued growth in the American market while extending its footprint across North America.
