Emerging Group to Watch in 2022 Winner, Oakpoint, Welcome New Partner Practice
The emerging DSO has recently partnered with and combined Dr. Donald Whitworth’s practice with Wendell Family Dentistry located in Wendell, NC. Founded by Mick Janness and Erik Strang, Oakpoint consists of 30+ locations in North Carolina and South Carolina. The Oakpoint platform was launched in September 2019 with a doctor-partnership consisting of two locations. Their three-pronged approach drives practices by: providing data technology to enable sustained growth, managing the people asset, and offering a refined targeting strategy. They simplify the data so their practices can take immediate action.
U.S. Oral Surgery Management Secures $125 Million Credit Expansion
USOSM is heading into 2023 with an increased war chest of capital to fuel continued growth and expansion, despite great financial market uncertainty. The company has closed on a new round of funding – a $125 million credit expansion. In 2022, USOSM added $100 million in acquired revenue. This new round of financing will position USOSM for similar growth in 2023 and beyond. Founded in November 2017, USOSM is a specialty management services company that exclusively serves oral and maxillofacial surgeons. It supports more than 160 oral and maxillofacial surgery practice locations across 24 states. USOSM is led by president and CEO Richard Hall.
MyOrthos Acquires Woodard Orthodontics
MyOrthos, a next generation orthodontic platform recently acquired the two-location Woodward Ortho. MyOrthos serves millions of patients annually across 12 states along the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic. Caber Hill Advisors secured the transaction.

Shared Practices Group is Growing
The emerging dental group opened four de novo dentures and implants practices which all opened on December 19th. The practices are located in Philadelphia, Omaha, Oklahoma City, and Chattanooga. These practices give Shared Practices Group ten de novo dentures and implant offices opened in 2022, with 19 offices in total. Shared Practices Group is a remote DSO, founded in 2021 by six equal dentist partners. It is 100% privately held, with no institutional capital. The group was co-founded by Dr. Matt Guarino, COO, and Dr. Richard Low, CEO.
Dental Depot Opens New Location
Their newest location is in Peoria, Arizona. The practice is led by Dr. Noble. After ten years as a dental assistant, Dr. Noble went back to college and earned an associate degree, and then her bachelor’s degree at Arizona State University. She then completed a master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences and all of dental school at Midwestern University in Glendale, graduating in 2021. The DSO is headquartered in Oklahoma City.
Western Dental & Orthodontics Acquires Sahara Dental Center & Las Vegas Smile Center
TUSK Partners advised Sahara Dental Center and Las Vegas Smile Center in its affiliation with Western Dental & Orthodontics. Under the leadership of Dr. Shiva Keshmiri and her husband, Kevin Behjat, Sahara Dental Center and Las Vegas Smile Center have provided a variety of cosmetic and orthodontic services to the Las Vegas area for several years. Bryan Galligan is the Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions at Western Dental and Orthodontics.
Dental Care Alliance Extends a Warm Welcome to Advanced Dentistry South Florida
Dental Care Alliance (DCA) announced the addition of Advanced Dentistry South Florida, located in Delray Beach on Florida’s southeast coast. For more than 25 years, Dr. Richard Staller and his team at Advanced Dentistry South Florida have been providing dental care to the Delray Beach community. Advanced Dentistry South Florida is the official team dentist for Florida Atlantic University Athletics.
DCA Expands Texas Footprint with Addition of Alsbury Dental and Lifeway Dental
DCA announced the expansion of its footprint in the Dallas Fort Worth area with the addition of Alsbury Dental and Lifeway Dental. Alsbury Dental and Lifeway Dental is a four-doctor, two-location general dentistry practice with locations in Burleson and Alvarado, Texas, south of Fort Worth. The practice, led by Dr. Blake Foust and four associates, is located in Burleson, TX.
DCA has expanded its Virginia Footprint with a three-location practice, Cross, Lavinder, Quinn & Park Family Dentistry. With offices located in Roanoke, Daleville, and Vinton, the doctors of Cross, Lavinder, Quinn & Park Family Dentistry provide dental care to patients aged three and up in the Roanoke community. The four partners are Dr. Lisa Lavinder, Dr. Griffin Cross, Dr. Stephen Quinn, and Dr Adam Park. Independence Dental Services Organization Partners with Dena Marcus DDS
Independence Dental Services, an integrated dental services organization (DSO), has partnered with Dena Marcus DDS of Sonoma, California. Independence Dental Services was established in 2020 and currently provides integrated services to 44 dental practitioners throughout the United States. David Thoni is the group’s chief growth officer.
Marquee Dental Partners Continues Its Florida Expansion
The DSO recently announced its partnership with Lumina Dental. Lumina is a two-practice dental brand located in the Tampa, Florida market. PepperPointe Partnerships Celebrates Expansion into Virginia Market
