Espire Dental Opens First Location in California
Founded in 1973 and privately held, the DSO is headquartered in Denver, CO. The group now has nine locations including five locations in CO, one location in WY, two locations in OK, and its newest location in La Mesa, CA. With the CA location, the group welcomes Dr. Jeff Gray who is one of the few, elite clinical instructors at the Kois Center. Look for Espire’s CEO and co-founder, Robert Linder, and their chairman and co-founder, Ryan Heckman, at Dykema DSO Industry Group’s meeting where they will be panelists.
EPO, Endo 1 Partners With Six Endodontic Groups
The month of June was very active for Endo1 as they partnered with six endo groups that in total have 19 locations with 32 providers. Endo1 Partners currently has a total of 65 locations across 14 states with over 100 providers. This endodontic partnership organization began in 2019 with just six locations. Group Dentistry Now featured an article on Endo1 in late January of 2021 – Read HERE. Endo1 Partners also made Group Dentistry Now’s Emerging Groups to Watch list in 2020.
June was a Monumental Month for Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics
In the past month, this emerging DSO has opened up three new offices: Irving, Texas, Houston, Texas and Aurora Colorado – their fist home outside Texas. The group now has a total of 32 locations. All of their locations are de novos, typically anywhere from 15 to 25 operatories, with a footprint ranging from about 5,000 to 7,000 square feet. They are located in large retail centers. In addition to being colorful and engaging, all of the lobbies offer a full movie theatre experience with complimentary xylitol lollipops and gum. Specialists rotate among the practices and the group has an in-house audiovisual team that designs themes which become an interactive experience for the patient. Umbrella Dental Partners Acquires Third Practice
The emerging dental group has just acquired their third practice – this one in Gurnee, Il. They have also relocated and expanded their Highwood, Il location. Differentiating themselves as a small DSO where practices get individual and personalized attention by the leaders of the DSOs, they acquired their first practice in Highwood, Il in Sep of 2014. Priya (Reddy) Boinpally is the group’s chief clinical officer and her husband, Abishek Boinpally, and his consulting company, Blue Chasm, handle the business side of the dental group.
Ambitious U.K. Dental Group Plans To Launch 400 Dental Clinic Franchises Within Three Years
The Dalghous twins (Dr. Hassan & Dr. Hussein Dalghous) and their team at YDS Group LTD (named for the original dental practice, Yorkshire Dental Suite) are putting an ambitious plan in place to establish 400 dental clinic franchises across the U.K. over the next three years. The duo’s intention with their ambitious project is to create a network of dental clinics to revitalize and re-shape the U.K. dental industry. A current healthcare problem in the U.K. is something called medical or dental tourism, where patients seek treatment abroad. The duo also recognizes the impact of poor oral hygiene is devastating to both the individual and the U.K economy. Learn more about the newly formed group here.
Imagen DPO® Adds New Practice in Illinois
Led by CEO, Rezwan Manji, Imagen Dental Partners is a dental partnership organization (DPO) headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona and have recently added Wilmette Family Dental to their group. Imagen provides their dentists with financial incentives in three ways: getting paid for the dentistry they produce, getting paid for the profitability of their practice, and getting paid a portion of the profitability of Imagen as a whole. With current operations in Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, they plan to continue expanding in 2021.
Great Lakes Dental Partners Expands into Indiana Market with Valparaiso Family Dentistry
Great Lakes Dental Partners (GLDP) has added Valparaiso Family Dentistry (VFD) to its network of affiliated practices, and its first partnership in Indiana. GLDP is dedicated to advancing dental healthcare in the Midwest and is a portfolio company of Shore Capital Partners, which provides practice management services to 26 partner locations.
Dental Care Alliance (DCA) Welcomes Ridgewood Oral Surgery and Implant Center to its Growing Family
Founded in 1999 by Dr. Manaf Saker, Ridgewood Oral Surgery and Implant Center is an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice with two locations in Glen Rock and Ramsey, in northeastern New Jersey. Three experienced surgeons lead the team – Drs. Manaf Saker, Kristopher Paik, and Tarun Kirpalani. The practice specializes in traditional oral surgery including dental implants, bone grafting, wisdom teeth, facial trauma, jaw surgery, tooth extractions, oral pathology, TMJ, sleep apnea, and anesthesia. Ridgewood Oral Surgery & Implant Center is the first oral surgery group practice in the state of New Jersey to introduce robotic oral surgery. DCA currently supports 330 allied practices and more than 750 dentists across 20 states. DCA’s allied practices represent all dental specialties and treat patients under more than 85 brand names.
USOSM Announces New Partnerships in Indiana, Kentucky and Colorado.
U.S. Oral Surgery Management (USOSM) is a specialty management services company that exclusively serves oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Headquartered in Irving, Texas, USOSM has partner practices in Texas, Colorado, Georgia, Tennessee, Minnesota, Alabama, Oklahoma, Louisiana, South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Indiana and Kentucky. - Colorado: The new partner is Elevated OMS, an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice treating patients in Aurora, CO, just east of Denver. The practice is led by Randall Russell, DDS.
- Indiana: Avon Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery has four surgeons and one location. It is USOSM’s first official partner in the state.
- Kentucky: The new partnership with Southern Kentucky Oral Surgery Associates is USOSM’s first official partner in the state. The oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS) practice has four board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons and four locations serving patients in South Central Kentucky.
- Kuna Kids Dentistry in Kuna, Idaho had their grand opening event on June 16th.
- Led by Dr. Caroline Larosiliere, Smiles Pediatric Dental Care serves three communities in Maryland with four pedodontists.
Lone Peak Dental Group was featured on Group Dentistry Now’s Emerging Groups to Watch List in 2021. With a strategy of both de novo and affiliations, this pediatric specialty was founded in 2003 by two pediatric dentists, Dr. Garth Stoddard and Dr. John C. Burtenshaw, with just four locations.
North American Dental Group (NADG) Welcomes Lakewood Ranch Dental
Lakewood Ranch was founded by Dr. Michael Kanter. He began his dental career in the U.S. Army as a dental hygienist. After completing his tour of duty, he earned an undergraduate degree and later his DMD degree. Lakewood Ranch also features a full team of dental hygienists, assistants, and administrators and four other dentists including – Drs. Peter Masterson, Leonid Blinn, Violet Laurey, and Michael Bettner. Dr. Kanter will join NADG as a partner with the company. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, NADG was co-founded in 2008 by Ken Cooper and Dr. Andrew Matta. Ken Cooper of NADG was named one of the nation’s highest rated CEOs during the pandemic. NADG currently supports more than 250 dental practices and nearly 500 full-time dentists across 15 states. Also recently, they saluted women DSO leaders in the industry.
Peak Dental Services Enters San Antonio Market
Peak Dental has just welcomed Premier Dental Center San Antonio I, Premier Dental Center San Antonio II, Premier Dental Center New Braunfels, Premier Dental Center Bulverde, Premier Dental Center Seguin, Premier Dental Center Boerne, Premier Dental Center Lockhart, and Premier Dental Center Universal City. In addition to welcoming all of the Premier Dental Center team members to our family, Dr. Luigi Massa, the founder of Premier Dental Centers, joined their leadership team as their new Texas Clinical Director. They now have a total of 45 locations, in two states. Peak Dental Services was founded in 2008 by a dentist from small-town Minnesota, Dr. Douglas Peak, and his son A.J. Peak. Los Angeles-based private equity investment firm, Varsity Healthcare Partners, made a major investment in the fast-growing, Colorado Springs-based dental practice group in January, 2021. Varsity’s investment is expected to finance acquisitions and new practices for five years or more in major metro areas in in CO, AZ, NV, NM, OR, TX, UT, and WA. The DSO was also featured on the Inc. 5000 annual list of America’s fastest-growing privately held companies for 2020.
dentalcorp Makes for Largest IPO on TSX this Year
dentalcorp is Canada’s largest network of dental clinics. The DSO has had several recent impressive accomplishments including their new listing (TSX: DNTL) on the Toronto Stock Exchange and becoming the largest healthcare IPO in Canadian history and the largest IPO on the TSX so far this year. Pricing of initial public offering and concurrent private placement for gross proceeds of approximately $950 million. Each of dentalcorp’s practice locations has at least two dentists and generate between $2.3-2.4M revenue per year. In over the past decade, they have enjoyed double digit growth yearly.
Smile Brands Welcomes Newest Partnership with Eby Dental Care
Smile Brands has partnered with Eby Dental Care in Okemos, MI. The existing dental team and staff will remain with the office and the business will continue to operate under the name Eby Dental Care. Dr. Eric Eby founded Eby Dental Care in 2003 with the goal of bringing healthy, beautiful smiles to patients of all ages. Today, Dr. Eby leads a team of six from their growing Okemos location. Smile Brands Inc., based in Irvine California, is one of the largest providers of dental support services in the United States. The company supports nearly 700 affiliated practices, with more than 8,200 dedicated team members across 30 states. Smile Brands supports a portfolio of over 60 brands including well-known regional brands Bright Now! Dental, Castle Dental, Merit Dental, Midwest Dental, Monarch Dental, and Mondovi Dental.
MB2 Enters Kentucky Market
Their first parenrship in the Bluegrass State is with Dr. Dan Thompson, owner of River Valley Dental in Maysville, KY. Dallas, Texas-based MB2 Dental is a first-of-its-kind dental partnership organization (DPO), founded and led by dentist and entrepreneur CEO Dr. Chris Steven Villanueva, with a mission to empower dentists to preserve their profession. Two Dental Veterans Begin New Dental Partnership Organization (DPO), Equishared Dental Group
Cameron Elrod and Dan Redifer have co-founded EquiShared Dental Group and Left Brain Practice Management Group. Prior to forming Left Brain, Dan was COO for one of the nation’s largest non-profit Dental Support Organization (DSO) with over 30 locations and 400 employees, including 80 doctors. Cameron is a dental industry veteran with 25+ years of experience. Prior to EquiShared, Cameron spent 23 years working with Patterson Dental for the majority of his career as a General Manager in the Michigan market. Equishared says they offer a new approach to the dental partnership organization (DPO). Both industry veterans plan to leverage their large network to build and lead the new DPO.
Orthodontic Partners Announces New Partnership with Dr. Stuart Frost and Dr. Trevor Nichols of Frost Orthodontics
Orthodontic Partners, a national orthodontic group practice, has maintained steady growth despite pandemic-related setbacks the profession has faced in the last year.
