DSO Spotlight

Roseman University of Health Sciences and PDS Health® have officially unveiled the Thorne Clinic for Integrative Oral Health and Primary Care at Roseman’s Henderson, Nevada campus. The dedication of The Thorne Clinic marks more than the launch of a new facility – it reflects a shared vision between Roseman University and PDS Health to transform healthcare delivery and education by uniting dental and medical care in a truly integrated model.

The Thorne Clinic is named in honor of Stephen E. Thorne IV, founder and CEO of PDS Health, whose vision and philanthropic investment made the facility possible. PDS Health fully funded the clinic’s design, construction, and equipment, donating both material and expertise to bring the project to life at no cost to Roseman University.

A Landmark in Integrated Care

Located at 4 Sunset Way, Building A, the new 12,000-square-foot Thorne Clinic features 35 fully equipped dental chairs and is positioned adjacent to Roseman’s existing dental and orthodontic facilities. The site also neighbors the Roseman Medical Group primary care clinic, set to open in the coming months, further supporting the university’s commitment to a collaborative, whole-health model of care.

With the addition of the Thorne Clinic, Roseman’s Henderson campus now boasts 62 dental chairs across 17,300 square feet of clinical space—creating capacity for up to 50,000 patient visits annually once fully utilized.

“This is not just a new clinic—it’s a vision for what healthcare can and should look like,” said Stephen E. Thorne IV, Founder and CEO of PDS Health. “When we connect oral health with overall health, we empower both patients and providers to see the complete picture. That’s the foundation of truly comprehensive care.”

Training the Next Generation of Providers

Beginning in January 2026, dental students in Roseman’s Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program at the South Jordan, Utah campus will relocate to Henderson to complete their didactic and clinical training under faculty supervision. The Thorne Clinic will serve as a key educational facility, offering students hands-on experience while providing affordable care to the surrounding community.

“This clinic stands as a tangible symbol of partnership between academia and the DSO community,” said Dr. Frank Licari, Dean of Roseman University’s College of Dental Medicine. “Through the generosity of PDS Health, our students will gain invaluable experience in an integrated environment that mirrors the real-world settings in which they’ll practice.”

This model reflects a growing trend in academic dentistry—partnering with DSOs and healthcare organizations to modernize training environments and prepare students for collaborative, data-driven practice.

Advancing Education Through Cutting-Edge Technology

In addition to the contributions from PDS Health, The Thorne Clinic’s educational capabilities were further enhanced through a grant from Dental Imaging Technologies Corporation (DEXIS). The grant supports the clinic with the latest in digital imaging and diagnostic technology, including intraoral scanners, CBCT technology, sensors, and portable x-ray units. These tools enable students to train on advanced digital workflows and treatment planning systems, preparing them to enter practice with fluency in modern diagnostic technologies.

“Today is especially meaningful because many AI-enabled hardware and software technologies from DEXIS will be used right here in this clinic. That means the students who train at The Thorne Clinic won’t just be learning dentistry— they’ll be mastering the tools and technologies that define the future of oral healthcare.” – Robert Befidi, President, DEXIS

Epic® EHR: A First in Academic Dentistry

As part of the partnership, Roseman University’s College of Dental Medicine will also implement the Epic® electronic health record (EHR) platform, powered by PDS Health.

PDS Health was the first dental support organization to fully deploy Epic across its supported practices, creating a unified health record that connects dental and medical data. Through this integration, Roseman will enable future clinicians to work within a single, comprehensive system that improves care coordination and enhances patient outcomes.

“This collaboration with PDS Health allows Roseman to lead at the intersection of education and innovation,” said Dr. Renee Coffman, President of Roseman University of Health Sciences. “Epic integration is a game-changer—not only for our students and faculty, but for the future of patient care.”

Setting a New Standard for the DSO and Academic Communities

The Thorne Clinic for Integrative Oral Health and Primary Care stands as a model of what’s possible when academia and industry work hand-in-hand to advance access, education, and innovation.

For DSOs, this partnership highlights how strategic collaboration with universities can elevate training standards, strengthen the talent pipeline, and accelerate the adoption of integrated health technologies across the profession.

“Stephen Thorne and PDS Health have once again demonstrated what leadership looks like in the DSO space,” said Dr. Licari. “This clinic will have a lasting impact—not only on our students and patients, but on the broader conversation about the future of healthcare.”
