Colossal Changes at one of Europe’s Largest DSOs

 

Colosseum Dental Group, which is headquartered in Zürich Switzerland, is a DSO supporting over 620 clinics and 50 labs in 11 European markets. They generate over 1.1 billion yearly revenues and treat 6 million+ patients. Over 12,500 dental professionals conduct treatments covering all specialties.

Led by Patrick De Maeseneire, CEO, Colosseum Dental Group’s majority shareholder is Jacobs Holding, a global professional investment firm based in Zürich, Switzerland. Jacobs Holding has a long-term commitment to dentistry through its investment in Colosseum Dental Group in Europe and North American Dental Group in the U.S.

Colosseum Dental Group (CDG) appoints Dr Farzeela Rupani as new CMO

Dr. Farzeela Rupani has been appointed as Group Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Colosseum Dental Group, in addition to her current role as Chief Medical Officer of Colosseum Dental UK, which has 80 practices in the South and Southeast of England.

Since joining in 2021, Farzeela made an immediate positive impact on practitioners in the UK and has been instrumental in strengthening the proposition for dentists, leading to an improved retention at Colosseum Dental UK.

Farzeela will act as Chairperson of the Medical Board, which oversees the clinical standards and governance within the Colosseum Dental Group and is composed of various country CMOs and advise the Board of Directors and Executive Committee on all medical matters.

In her role as Group CMO, Farzeela further assumes responsibility for the Group’s Learning & Development Program (including the Colosseum Academy) and will be part of the new Group HR organization to gain efficiencies between the medical and HR function.

Farzeela will succeed Dr. Eddie Coyle, who will pursue other opportunities after five years of service. Eddie has built and significantly improved their medical governance and the sharing of best practices across markets during his time with Colosseum. He was instrumental in setting up medical functions, in particular the Medical Board, the Colosseum Academy, as well as establishing their first examination procedures, engaging their medical organization and ensuring a medical focus throughout CDG. Eddie further led the organization through the recent pandemic from a medical side.


Colosseum Dental Group Benelux is the largest dental healthcare provider in the Benelux. With centralized services at their Dental Service Center, in Oosterhout, The Netherlands, the group works with almost 2500 dental professionals, providing 600,000+ patients with oral care.

Benelux is an economic union comprising three neighboring monarchies: Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg . The name is formed from the beginning of each country’s name. It was a precursor of the European Union.

Changes at Colosseum Dental Benelux 

Jarkko Jokinen

Jarkko Jokinen assumes the CEO position of CDG The Netherlands & Belgium, in addition to being CEO at Oral Hammaslääkärit in Finland. Oral Hammaslääkäritt, which is a division of Colosseum Dental Group, is Finland’s largest private chain offering oral healthcare services.

Under Jarkko’s leadership over the last four years, Oral Hammaslääkärit has been transformed into an admired Finish dental care provider, among dental professionals and patients alike. The group employs more than 1,600 people and operates in up to 70 offices around Finland. His experience will be instrumental for the sustainable success of their Dutch business going forward.

To complement the leadership, Teemu Arima will act as CDG CFO The Netherlands & Belgium. In his previous role as CFO of Colosseum Dental UK, he made a significant contribution to the turnaround of the UK operations. Teemu started his career as Financial Controller of Oral Hammaslääkärit in 2016 and thereafter served as Group Financial Controller until he joined Colosseum Dental UK in 2021.

Jarkko and Teemu will succeed Patrick Bakker (CEO The Netherlands & Belgium) and Maarten ter Haar (CFO The Netherlands & Belgium) who will leave Colosseum Dental after a handover period. Patrick and Maarten contributed to integrating The Netherlands & Belgium, Colosseum’s biggest acquisition to date.
