Pacific Dental Services Foundation partners with Autism Speaks and Concorde Career College to Provide Special Needs Dental Care Training

On June 4, 2016 the Pacific Dental Services Foundation, with support from Autism Speaks, held their second free special needs training event to dental assistants, hygienists and faculty at Concorde Career Colleges, in order to increase access and promote awareness of the physical and mental challenges faced by special needs patients when it comes to oral healthcare.

Presenters included Autism Spectrum Disorder experts Dr. Jeanne Anne Carriere, PH.D (Director, Education Assessment Team and Kelly McKinnon-Bermingham, MA, MCBA (Director, Behavior Intervention).

The course provided a comprehensive look at Autism Spectrum Disorders and what every dental assistant and hygienist can do to better serve their patients and families including learning ways to create a problem-free setting to provide a positive experience at the dental office.
