The Inc. 5000 annual list of America’s fastest-growing privately held companies featured 47 dental-related companies this year. Of those, 21 are dental care providers with a mix of DSOs, single location dental practices, and dental group practices. This year marks the largest representation of dental companies since we began highlighting them in 2017. Below please find the only totally comprehensive list of dental-related companies that made Inc.’s list this year.
What are the eligibility criteria for the Inc. 5000?
The list is determined solely by revenue growth; profitability is not a consideration. They use reported revenue (line 1c on tax returns) to calculate growth rate. Companies that have lower revenue in 2021 than in 2018 would not be eligible. Inc. 5000 no longer includes revenue information on their list.
All of the following must be true of a company in order to qualify for the 2022 Inc. 5000:
- Have generated revenue by March 31, 2018
- Have generated at least $100,000 in revenue in 2018 (Revenues must be under one LLC. Common Paymasters are not eligible for the Inc. 5000.)
- Have generated at least $2 million in revenue in 2021 (Revenues must be under one LLC. Common Paymasters are not eligible for the Inc. 5000.)
- Be privately held, for-profit; based in the U.S., and independent (not a subsidiary or division of another company.)
How are companies ranked on the 2022 Inc. 5000 list?
Companies are ranked according to the percentage growth of their annual revenue over a three-year period. To assess this, they ask for base year and recent year’s revenues. The equation for growth percentage is: [(Recent Yearly revenue – Base Year revenue) / Base Year revenue] x 100 = total growth percentage.
For example, if 2018 revenue was $3 million and 2021 revenue is $15 million:
$15 million – $3 million = $12 million
12,000,000 / 3,000,000 = 4
4 x 100 = 400
Growth rate is 400 percent.
