As we have demonstrated day in and day out over the past seven years, Group Dentistry Now is committed to the success of DSOs, dental groups, and the people who work for them. As the evolution of group dentistry continues to reshape the dental landscape, we consider the people who work in the DSO industry to be its most invaluable resource.  DSO People shares updates on new hires, promotions and awards.  Here’s February’s list:

The Association of Dental Support Organizations (ADSO) has selected Andrew Smith as the next executive director of the ADSO.  In his new role, Smith will represent the DSO industry to policymakers and other key stakeholders to ensure that DSO-affiliated dentists can operate in a practice environment that allows them to receive the support they need. Previously, Smith served as executive vice president of government relations and external affairs for Parallel (formerly Surterra Wellness) where he managed the state and federal government relations teams, served as the company’s chief advocate and spokesperson to policymakers and regulators, and led the company’s advocacy and communications goals in the public affairs space. Prior to joining the private sector, Andrew spent a decade working in government, campaigns, and public policy. In particular, Andrew worked as finance director and senior advisor for Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe.

North American Dental Group welcomes Keith Carrington as their new compliance and privacy officer. Keith will support NADG’s 250 affiliated dental practices across 15 states in continued adherence to local and federal regulatory requirements while advancing internal compliance procedures that govern the company’s day-to-day operations. Carrington most recently worked at a Florida healthcare technology and services company where he developed and implemented compliance programs, designed audit protocols, and revamped a code of ethics.  Carrington earned his executive juris doctorate in health law from the Concord Law School at Purdue University Global, a Master of Business Administration in marketing from DeVry University. NADG based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was co-founded in 2008 by Ken Cooper and Dr. Andrew Matta.

Sage Dental Management announces new executive hires: senior CFO and chief human resources officer. Founded in 1997, Sage Dental’s name was Gentle Dental until 2015. They currently have 65 general and multi-specialty dental practices providing general and specialty services to more than 250,000 patients in Florida and Georgia. Sage has increased patient volumes to 105% of pre-pandemic levels.

Mark Brockelman joins the Sage Dental Management team with extensive experience in accounting, financial planning and analysis, mergers and acquisitions, and financial leadership across private equity and growth-oriented companies. Mark also brings a wealth of industry knowledge to Sage from his previous experience as CFO at National Dentex Corporation, the largest network of dental manufacturing laboratories in the U.S. Most recently, Mark served as CFO of iRise Spine and Joint Institute.

With a background across multiple industries and a stint as a professional baseball player with Oakland Athletics, David Tripp, SHRM-SPC, SPHR, David Tripp joins Sage Dental Management from Vision Group Holdings, where he was the VP of Human Resources. David has nearly a decade of experience as VP of Human Resources, including at Cross Country Home Services and First Data Corporation, where he helped build company culture through projects focused on employee recruitment, retention, engagement, and recognition. A consummate leader and team-player, David brings his unique perspective and enthusiasm for team building and community development to Sage Dental.

Kirsten Corsaut has been promoted to controller at Oakpoint. Kirsten joined the DSO at the beginning of 2020. Prior to tat she worked as a senior staff accoutnat at Doeren Mayhew in their dental/healthcare division. Oakpoint is headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina and supported affiliated practices in North Carolina and across the Southeast region. Funded in 2019 and privately held, they have 17 locations.
